York Regional Police say their homicide unit has taken over the investigation into the disappearance of a Markham woman.

Ying Chun (Annie) Li was last seen by her family near Denison Street and Markham Road at around 6 p.m. on June 12, but may have been seen later that day in the Richmond Hill area.

Police say the 36-year-old has not been in contact with her family and has not returned home.

Her disappearance is now considered suspicious.

Li is described by police as an Asian female who is 36 years old, five-foot-two and 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair.

Investigators say they are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a possible witness who may have information that can help in the case.

In an effort to identify the possible witness, police have released a photo in connection with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the York Regional Police Homicide Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7865 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
