A Toronto man has been charged with more than a dozen counts of fraud after a fake taxi cab was operating in the city's downtown core.

Police say the man targeted intoxicated victims in the city's Entertainment District between Jan. 23 and the end of July.

The man, according to police, would allegedly obtain the victim's credit or debit card PIN information. Police said the victims would only realize they were duped after they had been dropped off.

Police said four people have come forward, but they believe there may be other victims.

Shehzad Ahmad, 32, has been charged with four counts of theft, 14 counts of fraud and 14 counts of using a credit card obtained by crime.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 16, 2011.
