OSHAWA, Ont. -- A 55-year-old man is facing eight charges arising from an incident in which a cyclist sprayed dogs with an irritant at an Oshawa, Ont., dog park.

Investigators say an Oshawa man told police he was walking his two dogs at the off-leash park in the Harmony Valley Conservation Area on Saturday when a man riding a mountain bike approached.

They say the dog owner called for the cyclist to stop so he could hold his dogs, but the cyclist continued towards them and allegedly sprayed his dogs with an aerosol irritant.

Durham Regional Police say an investigation revealed two other incidents -- on July 23 and Aug. 6 -- believed to involve the same cyclist spraying dogs or threatening to spray dogs.

Michael Ramsey of Clarington, Ont., is charged with uttering threats, mischief under $5,000, and causing pain, suffering or injury to an animal.
