Toronto police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing man, who left his Junction-area home in a cab and never returned.

Police say Michael John Hamill, 67, was last seen on Thursday morning in High Park, near the Grenadier Restaurant after a cab dropped him off. Hamill was supposed to attend a doctor’s appointment at St. Joseph’s Health Centre later that day, but he never arrived.

There have been several reported sightings of Hamill since his disappearance, most recently in the area near Dufferin and Croatia Streets.

Around 20 officers are taking part in the search, as well as a group of volunteers, who are helping to canvass the area and are passing out flyers with Hamill’s photo on it.

Hamill’s family say this is very out of character for him, as he has never disappeared before in the past. On Friday, his daughter-in-law told CP24 that any tips are appreciated.

“We are looking beyond High Park now and the family appreciates any help,” Elisa De Swert said.

Hamill is described as white, between 150 to 155 pounds, with thinning white hair and is about five feet eight inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with leather sleeves, grey sweater, green shirt and black toque with the letters “R & A” embroidered on the front. He may speak with an Irish accent.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police at 416-808-1100 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
