Police arrested three suspects and recovered a gun Wednesday, following a foot chase in the city’s east end.
The chase began around 4:30 p.m. after officers received a call about an armed man near the O’Connor Community Centre, located at 1386 Victoria Park Ave.
Officers were able to arrest two suspects at the scene, but a third suspect fled.
Officers closed a section of Victoria Park Avenue near Sunrise Avenue while they hunted for the outstanding suspect. The emergency task force and the canine unit were called in for support.
The suspect was located and arrested a short time later.
The chase forced the lockdown of a daycare located inside the community centre.
The children of the daycare were transported to nearby Clairlea Public School where they were picked up by their parents.
Police said there are no more suspects outstanding and no one was injured.
