Nearly a week after a 20-year-old man was stabbed to death in the city's west-end, police have arrested a suspect in connection to the case.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old male Monday after investigating a deadly fight that happened at East Mall park on August 22. Sharmarke Handouleh is the city's 53rd homicide of the year.

Several people witnessed an altercation between two men that eventually led to the victim being stabbed, police said. Though some have been co-operative with authorities, police said they believe more witnesses are out there that still need to come forward.

Carlos Tapia is charged with second-degree murder. He is expected to appear in a Finch Avenue courthouse Tuesday.
