The lone occupant of a small, single-engine plane was killed when the plane crashed into a parking lot beside a runway in Brantford, Ont. on Wednesday morning.

The Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that the Skybolt biplane crashed into a parking lot on Colbourne Street, next to the runway at the Brantford Municipal Airport at approximately 11:20 a.m.

It burst into flames on impact, and was completely destroyed by the fire.

Part of the debris from the plane hit a nearby building, OPP said. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will be investigating the incident.
