Peel Regional Police say they have made one arrest in connection with the August slaying of a young man at his home in Brampton, and are seeking other suspects.

The incident occurred on the evening of Aug. 21 at Wickstead Court, police said Thursday in a news release.

Officers arrived on a Saturday night and found Darren McLean suffering from a gunshot wound.

"Attempts to provide medical assistance to Mr. McLean were unsuccessful and he was subsequently pronounced dead," police said.

Friends of the victim said he was a forklift operator, an aspiring rapper and a "good kid." He lived at the home with his mother and sister. Police said a family member contacted 911 after finding McLean in the garage.

After a lengthy investigation, police said Thursday they have arrested former Brampton resident Michael McIntosh, 20, and charged him with second-degree murder.

McIntosh is currently of no fixed address.

"Investigators from the homicide bureau are continuing their search for other suspects involved in this murder," police said. "It is strongly recommended that these suspects obtain legal counsel and turn themselves into police."

They also said anyone who aids suspects or otherwise obstruct a criminal investigation could face charges themselves.

Const. Thomas Ruttan of Peel police said investigators aren't yet releasing the number of suspects they are seeking. He didn't know when McIntosh would be appearing in court.

No allegations against McIntosh have been proven in a court of law.
