Peel police identify man who died following 'targeted' double shooting in Brampton
Police have Peel Region have released the identity of a man who was shot to death outside a home in Brampton late last week.
The incident happened on Dec. 4 on Odeon Street near Concorde Drive, which is west of Goreway Drive and south of Mayfield Road.
Peel Regional Police (PRP) said they were called to that area just after 11:30 p.m. after multiple gunshots were fired.
Video of the shooting circulating on social media, and confirmed by CP24, appears to show two people clearing snow off a vehicle in the driveway of a home when the driver of a white, four-door sedan pulls up and stops the vehicle.
The back-left door of the sedan then flings open before a shooter opens fire. Flashes of bright light appear on camera as several shots are fired.
The footage goes on to show two individuals exiting the sedan.
In total, about 20 shots are fired.
Peel Regional Police told CTV News Toronto in a statement on Monday that two men were shot at, one of whom succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has now been identified as 26-year-old Pritpal Singh.
The other victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, they said.
Paramedics said this individual was shot in the arm and taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made in this double shooting so far, which police said is believed to be targeted.
Police said a short time later, another shooting occurred in Caledon, which they believe is related to the previous one in Brampton. No injuries were reported in that incident. Peel Regional Police are working with Ontario Provincial Police on that investigation.
They said they are actively investigating and will not be releasing any further details at this time.
