TORONTO -- A 67-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Toronto, police say.

Police said they were called to Cherry and Mill streets just after 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers said a cement truck turning right struck the woman as she crossed Cherry Street from the west side to the east side.

Police said a 64-year-old man operated the 2001 Mack Cement Truck at the time of the incident.

The woman suffered significant injuries, police said, and she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident and are asking local residents, businesses and drivers to bring forward any information or video footage of the area or incident.
