One pedestrian is dead following a collision in Markham Thursday evening, York Regional Police have confirmed.
Police say they responded to the call for two pedestrians struck on Markham Road, at Elson Street, shortly after 6 p.m.
Police say two vehicles collided before the pedestrians, both women, were struck on the southwest corner of the intersection.
One woman has died as a result of her injuries, police at the scene told CP24. The other was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The area is currently closed as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
