The parents of a 15-year-old Brampton girl who died on Saturday have been charged with second-degree murder.

Tiffany Gayle was found lifeless in the home she shared with her father, Frederick, and his wife, Elizabeth, over the weekend.

The two suspects turned themselves into Peel Regional Police this morning after a three-day investigation and an autopsy on the girl's body.

Police had initially ruled the death suspicious. A police investigation revealed that Tiffany died from a blunt force trauma.

Father Fredrick Gayle, 42, and stepmom Elizabeth Gayle, 43, are each to appear in court on Wednesday for a bail hearing. The suspects will remain in police custody ahead of the hearing.

On Tuesday, the family's home on a quiet residential street in Brampton was surrounded by police tape.

It is believed that Gayle recently moved to Toronto from Jamaica to live with her dad and his wife.

Gayle's classmates at Fletcher's Meadow Secondary School, where the school flag was at half-mast, friends remembered a "good person" who was kind and trustworthy.

Other students told CTV Toronto's Andria Case that the death of their classmate was a huge shock.

The school held a memorial for Gayle during the afternoon, and grief councillors have been brought in if students need help.

Those with information about Gayle's death are asked to call the Peel homicide bureau at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3205. Anonymous tips can also be left with Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or through www.peelcrimestoppers.ca.
