The man in charge of venues for Ontario's Pan Am Games says there won't be a construction fiasco like the one happening at the Commonwealth Games in India.

It's just days before India's event starts, but a bridge has collapsed and the athletes' village is only half finished.

The Pan Am Games new venues boss Bob O'Doherty says officials in Ontario will constantly monitor construction to make sure everything stays on schedule.

He says the first item on his agenda is finding a place for a new stadium in Hamilton.

Officials in the city have yet to agree on a final location.

O'Doherty will start as Pan Am's vice-president in charge of venues, anti-doping and officiating on Monday.
