A series of overnight lane closures began Wednesday night as road crews prepared for the next phase of Gardiner Expressway repairs.

At 11 p.m. on Wednesday, eastbound and westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane between Dufferin Street and Spadina Avenue. Lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. on Thursday.

On Thursday night, Gardiner traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday.

On Friday the closure will be in effect from 11 p.m. until 8 a.m. on Saturday. The lanes will close again at 11 p.m. on Saturday night until 8 a.m. on Sunday.

On Sunday night, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday.

To help ease traffic congestion, the City of Toronto will implement timing changes to traffic signals, hoping to enhance flow on alternate east-west routes like Lake Shore Boulevard.

Real-time traffic information will be displayed on overhead signs.
