Police have arrested a 50-year-old man after a bomb scare at an Oshawa library over the weekend.

Investigators said the suspect called Durham Regional Police on Saturday at approximately 11:30 p.m., saying a bomb was going to detonate at a public library on Wentworth Street West. The caller said it was going to explode within the next 30 minutes.

Police determined that the bomb threat was not real and an investigation into the incident was launched. Investigators learned that the cell phone used to call police was stolen by a known suspect. He was arrested outside of his home and the stolen phone was recovered.

Murray Stuart, of Oshawa, has been charged with public mischief and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
