OSHAWA, Ont. -- A 25-year-old Oshawa man is in serious condition after police say his car swerved into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a pickup truck in Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police say it happened on Thornton Road North near Mahina Street at about 1 a.m. Sunday.

The driver of the pickup, a 46-year-old Oshawa woman, was treated for minor injuries in hospital and later released.

The driver of the car suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, but was later airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he remains in serious condition.

Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision and they want to hear from anyone with information.
