The grand nephew of a Toronto deputy police chief has been found murdered near Kempenfelt Bay in a case that has provincial police investigators asking for the public's help.

Jonathan Chambers, 21, of Markham, Ont. was found shot to death Wednesday around 1 p.m. on Oro-Medonte Line 4. He is related to Toronto police deputy chief Keith Forde.

Police said a man who lives in the area discovered Chambers' body lying next to the roadway. The death was immediately treated as "suspicious" by police.

Investigators with the OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch were brought in to follow the case.

A post-mortem examination was conducted by the Centre for forensic Sciences in Toronto on Thursday. But details about how Chambers died were not released by the OPP. Family members and friends of the victim gathered at Chambers' Markham home Friday night.

Two weeks ago, a man was found unconscious in a snowbank a short distance from where Chambers' body was found. Three other murder victims have been found in the area over the last five years.

Investigators are trying to track Chambers' movements on Tuesday evening. They ask anyone with information to call Barrie OPP at (705) 726-6484 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
