TORONTO - A provincial police officer is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a person under arrest at the Woodbine Racetrack Slots in Toronto.
Police say on July 10, an investigation was launched after a person was assaulted by a suspect who was on duty as part of the casino enforcement unit.
Const. Tracey Smith, 44, an eight-year member of the Ontario Provincial Police, has been charged with one count of assault.
She remains on duty, but has been re-assigned.
Smith will appear in court in Toronto on Nov. 19.
