The first of four Samsung factories to be constructed in Ontario under a $7.5-billion green energy deal will be announced Wednesday.

CTV News has learned the factory will be built in Windsor. It will directly employ 300 workers.

Another 400 jobs will be created indirectly in construction and service-related operations.

A news conference has been called by Energy Minister Brad Duguid, Finance Minister Dwight Duncan (a Windsor MPP) and Windsor's Mayor Eddie Francis.

Three other factories are to be built in Ontario as part of the deal that guarantees Samsung a fixed price for electricity it produces in the province using wind and solar power.

The Windsor factory will make towers for wind turbines using steel that is produced in Ontario.
