TORONTO - Ontario's ombudsman has forwarded 112 complaints about police during the G20 summit to the agency that investigates police conduct.

Andre Marin investigated a law that led people to wrongly believe police had the power to demand ID and detain anyone coming within five metres of the G20 security fence.

Marin says during the investigation his office received numerous complaints about police conduct, which he is not mandated to investigate.

At the request of the Office of the Independent Police Review Director, an arm's-length agency that investigates police complaints, Marin sent the information to them today.

Most of the complaints related to people being stopped by police and searched, arrests, excessive use of force, the detention centre and the crowd control practice of kettling.

Names of complainants were not given to the police review office, but Marin says theyhave been told to contact the review office directly.
