OTTAWA - An Ontario man sent to jail after the province's top cop pulled him over for speeding and found drugs in the car has not been granted leave to appeal his conviction.

Curtis Wint, a 24-year-old Kitchener man, was flying along Highway 401 at 170 km/h when he blew by a police cruiser.

It wasn't just any police car -- this one was carrying none other than Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Julian Fantino.

Fantino was on his way to a speaking engagement but put on his highway patrol officer hat and pulled over the speeding car.

Officers found Wint's car was carrying 38 grams of crack cocaine and about 50 grams of pot.

Wint was sent to prison in April 2008 for two years on top of the four he had already spent in jail.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed his application for leave to appeal.

As is customary, no reasons were given.
