One male is dead following a single-vehicle accident in Niagara Falls, a representative with Ontario Provincial Police has confirmed.

OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford said that two male passengers travelling in the vehicle were ejected after it struck a guard rail on the Queen Elizabeth Way, near McLeod Road, shortly after 8 p.m.

The victim was struck by another vehicle after being ejected, Woodford said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other male sustained what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, Woodford said.

The female driver of the vehicle has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

All traffic is being forced off the QEW at McLeod Road as police continue to investigate at the scene.

The closure is expected to be in place for some time.
