A Kitchener woman is dead after a head-on collision involving a tractor trailer in Halton Hills on Tuesday.
The collision happened on Steeles Avenue, between Trafalgar Road and 5th Line, and involved a tractor trailer and 2010 Honda Civic. Police told CP24 they were called to the scene at around 4:50 p.m.
The truck, loaded with fertilizer, went on to drive into a ditch, and partially knocked down a hydro pole. Hydro workers were dispatched to ensure no live wires posed a danger.
The driver of the Honda, a 59-year-old Kitchener woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was unhurt. Police say the weather was clear, and conditions were dry with no obstructions.
Halton Regional Police say Steeles Avenue, between Trafalgar Road and 5th Line remains closed, and is unlikely to open until 11 p.m.
