The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is expanding the hours that you can purchase tickets for some of its most popular lottery games.

Starting on July 13, machines will shut down at 10:30 p.m., instead of 9 p.m., on games like Lotto Max, Lotto 649, Ontario 49, Lottario and Encore.

OLG says the change is not about making more money, but rather about added convenience for all time zones across Canada.

“It’s really about customer service,” OLG spokesperson Galit Solomon says.

In addition to the expanded hours, the maximum prize on the Lotto Max jackpot is being raised from $50 million to $55 million this week and $60 million by the end of the month.

The OLG sends about $2.1 billion dollars in profits to the Ontario government every year.
