Highway 400 was closed for several hours north of Toronto on Wednesday following a fatal collision in the northbound lanes.

OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford said one person was dead following the collision, which occurred north of Hwy. 89 shortly after 1:30 p.m.

It appeared a male may have been walking along the highway, Woodford noted. Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.

Four northbound lanes on Hwy 400 north of Simcoe Road were closed during the investigation.They were re-opened around 5 p.m.
