Niagara Regional Police detectives have arrested a teacher and horse-riding school owner and charged him with two sexual offences relating to a young person.

"It is alleged that the accused made inappropriate comments to a young person via text messages and invited her to engage in sexual activity," they said Tuesday in a news release.

Greg Hamelin, 52, of Lincoln, has been charged with two offences:

  • luring a child to facilitate the making of child pornography
  • luring a child to facilitate the offence of invitation to sexual touching

Hamelin is an elementary school teacher at the District School Board of Niagara.

He is an owner of Glacier Creek Farm, which is a horse-riding and stables facility in Lincoln, police said.

Hamelin was scheduled to have a bail hearing on Tuesday.

No allegations against him have been proven in a court of law.
