BEAMSVILLE, Ont. - A 36-year-old-man has been charged after a Niagara Regional Police officer sniffed out a large amount of marijuana.

The officer stopped a rental truck in Beamsville, Ont., early Monday morning, when he noticed a strong odour of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

The truck was searched and the driver was found to be in possession of more than 100 kilograms of marijuana.

Police say the estimated street value of the drugs was more than $1 million.

Guo Ding Lin is charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Lin is being held in St. Catharines for a bail hearing at an undetermined later date.
