NEWMARKET, Ont. - A 22-year-old Newcastle, Ont., man has been sentenced to 15 months in jail after pleading guilty in an online child luring case.

Timothy Jansen -- who pleaded guilty this week to luring a child by computer, and possession of child pornography -- was also given two years probation.

York Regional Police say Jansen met the victim, a 15-year-old girl, while performing at a church function in Newmarket, Ont., under the stage name T.J. Ross.

Following the initial meeting, the two chatted with each other on social media, which eventually led to chats of a sexual nature and the exchange of nude pictures.

He was arrested on Dec. 23, 2014, at his home in Newcastle and police seized various electronic devices, which court heard contained further evidence of the offences.
