TORONTO - Cellphones and cameras can be recycled in Ontario starting Thursday under a provincial program.

There are over 500 collection spots across the province where people can bring in their old electronic equipment to be reused or recycled.

While TVs and computers have been accepted for the past year the program was expanded today to bring the list up to 44 items, including MP3 players.

The recycling program is funded by fees paid to the Ontario Electronic Stewardship by electronics manufacturers and importers.

OES is expected to collect 46,000 tonnes of electronics in the coming year -- enough to fill 3,100 dump trucks.
