The mother of a single 28-year-old Guelph, Ont., man who just won a $35.3M jackpot says she plans on screening any potential dates first.

Jason Rinaldi, Ontario's newest multi-millionaire, has quickly become the province's most eligible bachelor after winning the million-dollar prize from Wednesday's Lotto 6-49 draw.

Rinaldi says he plans on spending the money by taking care of his family and friends.

"He told me when he gets rich he was going to buy me a new countertop, and that's just what he is going to do," Rinaldi's mother, Wendy, told CTV Toronto.

She also vowed to screen any potential girlfriends who come his way.

Despite the bank-account boost, Rinaldi says he will continue to work three days a week at the hot-rod company he co-owns in Cambridge, Ont. He did, however, celebrate the win by treating himself to a 2009 black Corvette Friday.

Rinaldi, who used family birth dates as the winning numbers, told reporters that he had been planning to give up playing the lottery.

"I was going to take it easy - it was costing me 20 bucks a week to play...it was a bad habit," he said Friday.

In addition to the new car, he said he plans on sharing his newfound wealth with his family and use the remainder to invest in real estate and a trip to Las Vegas later this month.
