Police have confirmed an elderly mother and son found dead in a downtown Toronto condominium on Wednesday were victims of a murder-suicide.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at the College Park Residences shortly after 10:30 a.m.

They found two bodies with gunshot wounds to the heads on the fifth floor of the building, located at Yonge and College Streets, above the College subway station.

The two victims have been identified as Sarah Grupstein, 84, and Percy Grupstein, 66.

Police told the Toronto Star on Wednesday they discovered a note inside the apartment that outlines an apparent suicide pact between the mother and her son.

The man and the woman were long-time residents of the building and were both in poor health, the newspaper reported.
