Johnson has been covering breaking news and feature stories for CTV News Toronto since 2010, specializing in municipal issues like transit, housing, real estate, and child care. She has covered political campaigns, elections, debates, and budgets for more than a decade, and has provided extended lead reporting on major stories like Rob Ford’s tumultuous term as mayor and the trial of serial killer Elizabeth Wettlaufer.
Johnson began her career with CTV News in 2007 as a reporter at CTV Ottawa. She then moved to CTV's Parliamentary Bureau, where she worked as a field producer for CTV NATIONAL NEWS on Parliament Hill before producing the network’s flagship political program, QUESTION PERIOD.
Some of Johnson’s most memorable experiences with CTV News include flying with the Snowbirds, rappelling down a skyscraper, and working at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
She graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University, where she specialized in business reporting. She got her first taste of television news by completing an internship with CNN.
Johnson grew up in the small town of Russell, Ont., but now calls Toronto home. She speaks English and French and volunteers her time by hosting fundraisers and telethons with organizations like Easter Seals.
