Prior to joining CTV News Toronto in 2014 as a general assignment reporter, Heather Wright was a reporter and videographer with CTV News Barrie since 2012, where she also filled in as a sports anchor and weather specialist. Wright’s assignments for CTV News Barrie included coverage of the Spring 2013 flooding in cottage country, reporting on the 2012 evacuation of a Barrie neighbourhood after it was discovered a local home was filled with bombs and homemade explosives, and the trial of a Barrie police officer convicted of assault.
Wright began her journalism career working in TSN’s SPORTSCENTRE newsroom as a researcher. She then moved south of the border where she reported from Chicago and interned in Washington, D.C. While in Washington, Wright covered the 2010 U.S. midterm elections. In 2011, she worked with Oshawa-based broadcaster CHEX TV, covering everything from crime to sports to politics. During that time, Wright worked also as an update anchor for radio station TSN 1050.
Wright holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from McGill University, and a Masters Degree in Journalism from Northwestern University. Wright was born and raised in Toronto.
