Niagara Regional Police say they have laid more sex-related charges against a local teacher and horse-riding school operator.

On Aug. 10, police said Greg Hamelin, 52, of Lincoln, had been charged with two offences:

  • luring a child to facilitate the making of child pornography
  • luring a child to facilitate the offence of invitation to sexual touching

"It is alleged that the accused made inappropriate comments to a young person via text messages and invited her to engage in sexual activity," police said Wednesday in a news release.

Police said they have identified more alleged victims.

As a result, the following additional charges have been laid against Hamelin:

  • invitation to sexual touching (three counts)
  • luring a child to facilitate the offence of invitation to sexual touching (two counts)
  • sexual exploitation (two counts)
  • sexual exploitation of a person with a disability

"All of the alleged offences occurred between January 2003 and August 2010 and the victims were young females," police said.

Hamelin works as an elementary school teacher with the District School Board of Niagara and operates Glacier Creek Farm, a horse-riding facility in Lincoln.

Hamelin is in police custody. He has a bail hearing scheduled in St. Catharines for Aug. 24.

No allegations against Hamelin have been proven in a court of law.

"Police continue to investigate this matter and ask anyone with information to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at 905-688-4111 extension 5100," they said.
