A woman has been rushed to hospital after being shot in the stomach with a high-calibre rifle in the city's west end.
The shooting took place on Wednesday morning inside a massage parlour located on Lawrence Avenue, east of Dufferin Street.
Police believe the shooting occurred during an attempted robbery.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and is expected to survive. She is listed in serious but stable condition.
The identity of the woman has not been released.
Police are searching for one male suspect described as:
- black, 5-foot-seven;
- chubby, round face;
- wearing a fanny pack and black clothing
It's believed the suspect took off on foot in an eastbound direction on Lawrence Avenue.
