A 32-year-old man has been charged after a woman was sexually assaulted in her Upper Beaches home in the middle of the night.

Toronto police said the woman was inside her Kington Road and Woodbine Avenue home at around 3 a.m. on Sunday when the alleged act occurred.

“The woman had reported that she was sexually assaulted by an unknown male in the area,” police spokesperson Katrina Arrogante said.

Police said the woman was taken to hospital for assessment.

Investigators said they believe the man used a ladder to climb up to a second-floor window and gain access to the home.

Less than 24 hours after releasing images of a suspect accused in the incident, police said that a Toronto man surrendered to authorities.

A suspect identified by police as Cayle Dupuis has been charged with criminal harassment, possessing a break-in instrument, breaking and entering with intent, sexual assault and prowling at night.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning.
