Ontario Provincial Police say two people have drowned in separate incidents in Lake Erie waters over the weekend.

On Thursday, just before 7 p.m., emergency crews were called to the lake's north shore in Selkirk, Ont., with reports of a woman in distress.

Police say Tracy Quinlan, 45, of Niagara, Ont., went underwater while swimming with a friend 18 to 30 metres from shore and never resurfaced.

They say that with the help of bystanders, Quinlan was found, brought to shore and given CPR.

She was taken to a local hospital, then air lifted to a Toronto hospital where she later died.

On Saturday at about 4:15 p.m., police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Long Point Provincial Park on Lake Erie after a young man disappeared while swimming with two friends.
