WHITBY, Ont. - Provincial police say a pursuit of a speeding Mercedes on Highway 401 has resulted in 28 charges against two Toronto men.
Police say an officer pulled the car over early Monday, but it accelerated off at high speed when he approached the vehicle.
Officers pursued the car into Durham Region where it went out of control and struck a concrete barrier.
Police say two men fled the scene and were apprehended a short time later.
Chad Briand, 28, faces 16 counts, including weapons charges, flight from police and marijuana possession.
Christopher Kotsopoulos, 24, is charged with 12 counts that include weapons offences and mischief endangering life.
