Officials have reopened all Toronto-bound lanes of the Burlington Skyway after portions of the bridge were closed over the holiday weekend following a crash Thursday afternoon.

Toronto lanes of the Skyway were shut down on Thursday after a dump truck slammed into a scaffolding structure in a construction zone.

The truck was travelling with its bucket in an elevated position before striking a portion of the scaffolding. The dump truck also slammed into the bridge's overhead girders, causing extensive damage.

The bridge remained closed through the August long weekend, forcing thousands of motorists to find alternate routes while engineers assessed the scope of the damage.

OPP remain on the scene as traffic slowly begins to move in the area.

A 34-year-old truck driver from Brampton is facing impaired driving charges in connection to the accident.
