Three Oshawa teenagers are in the custody of the Durham Regional Police after allegedly staging a violent home invasion that sent a 66-year-old man to hospital.

Durham Regional Police have arrested the two boys and one girl, claiming they forced their way into the Oshawa senior's home, assaulted him and escaped with jewellery and money, according to a release.

Police were called to the home of the man, located on Nonquon Road neat Taunton and Ritson Roads, at just after 12:30 a.m. on Friday.

The man told police the girl, who is known to him, knocked on his door. When he opened it, he realized she was accompanied by two masked men. The trio then forced their way into the apartment, according to his account.

One of the men then stabbed the victim in the arm, then forced him into his bedroom where he was reportedly hit over the head with a wooden object.

Police say the invaders then went through his possessions, eventually fleeing with jewellery and cash.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were considered non life-threatening.

Detectives were led to another apartment located nearby, where the arrested the 15-year-old female suspect.

The male suspects, aged 15 and 16, also face charges including robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and aggravated assault, according to the Durham Regional Police report.

Violent attack

Meanwhile in Mississauga, Peel Regional Police are searching for two suspects after a man was robbed as he opened his restaurant Friday morning in the area of Burnhamthorpe Road and Hurontario Street.

The victim was opening his restaurant at about 7:20 a.m. when he was approached by two men, one carrying a pipe wrench, Peel Regional Police reported in a news release.

The men demanded cash, and a struggle ensued between the victim and one of the suspects.

The second suspect then stabbed the victim in the leg and stomach, before the suspects fled on foot towards Burnhamthorpe Road West, according to police.

The victim was transported to Trillium Health Centre where he was treated for his stab wounds, which were considered non life-threatening.

Police are searching for the suspects, who have been described as follows:

Male, non-white, between 20 and 24 years of age, about 6' tall, 140 lbs with a skinny build. The first suspect was wearing a black hooded sweater pulled over his head, a black Velcro balaclava ski mask, gloves and was armed with a pipe wrench.

The second suspect was also male, non-white, between 18 and 20 years of age, roughly 5'7, between 125 and 130 lbs, wearing a green hooded sweater and armed with a knife.
