A Toronto District School Board swim coach has been charged with five sex-related offences in connection with an assault against a 12-year-old boy.

In a news release issued Friday, Toronto Police alleged that the youth was sexually assaulted at Carlton Village Public School in April 2009.

The school is just east of the intersection of Old Weston Road and Davenport Road.

Jonathan Summerhayes, 47, of Toronto faces the following:

  • sexual assault
  • sexual exploitation
  • sexual interference
  • invitation to sexual touching
  • forcible confinement

He is to appear in court on Saturday.

Police said the accused has been a swim coach with the TDSB since 1995 and is currently a coach at Allenby Junior Public School. That school is at 391 St. Clements Ave., which is near Avenue Road midway between Eglinton and Lawrence Avenues.

"Police believe there may be other victims," the release said.

No allegations against Summerhayes have been proven in a court of law.
