Toronto police were called to a Leslieville home after the discovery of a suspected explosive device on Monday afternoon.

The device was discovered inside a garage shortly before 4 p.m. while the home was being renovated, police said. The home is located on Minto Street, near Eastern Avenue.

Police say military personnel have been called to assist with the removal of the suspected explosive device.

"Everyone is safe, the public is safe, and the gentleman that located the ordinance did the right thing – they called us immediately," Sgt. Richard Lyons said at the scene.

Once the unexploded shell is removed from the home, it will be transported to CFB Borden by members of the Department of National Defence.

No injuries have been reported.
