A daylight shooting has left one man clinging to life in hospital, capping off a violent week on the streets of Toronto.

Police rushed to the North Kipling Community Centre in the Finch and Kipling Avenues area at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

At the scene, officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to Sunnybrook hospital where the unnamed man, believed to be in his 20s, was reportedly in critical condition.

Members of the Emergency Task Force were called to the scene. With the help of a police dog they searched the area for the shooter.

Police told the Toronto Star that three men had an argument at a nearby store just before the shooting occurred.

Two of the men left the store headed in the direction of the community centre, police Insp. Gord Jones told the Star. The third man followed close behind and when they made it to the community centre, opened fire.

The shooting was the latest incident during a violent and bloody week in Toronto that left several people dead in separate incidents.

A man was found dead at an apartment building in the Markham Road and Lawrence Avenue East area around 2:30 a.m. Friday. He was found unconscious with serious head injuries and later died in hospital.

On Tuesday, firefighters found the lifeless body of Tito Benjamin, 29, in his Cabbagetown apartment where he had been shot.

A day earlier, Allen Benn, 20, was stabbed to death outside an apartment in the Jane and Finch area. Police launched a search for as many as six men believed to be involved in that slaying.
