Several exotic animals were rescued from a fire at a Brampton townhouse complex on Tuesday afternoon.

The two-alarm fire started on Bramalea Road, near Queen Street just before 1 p.m.

Four large pythons, two lizards, two cockatiels, and a rabbit were rescued from one of the units.

Brampton Animal Service has custody of the animals.

Peel police said it is believed the fire started in the bathroom of one of the units before spreading to two other units.

No one was hurt in the blaze.
