A popular Toronto concert venue is reopening after flooding and high water levels forced it to remain closed last week.
The Budwieser Stage, previously known as the Molson Ampitheatre, was scheduled to host its first concert on May 16 after renovations.
However, due to record high water levels in Lake Ontario, a concert headlined by rapper Future and opening acts Migos, Zoey Dollarz, ASAP Ferg, and Tory Lanez – which was set to be the first performance at the new venue -- was moved to the Air Canada Centre.
Chance the Rapper was the next artist scheduled to perform at the Budweiser Stage on May 24, but flooding forced him to postpone his show until May 30, according to the venue’s owner and operator, Live Nation.
In a news release issued on May 22, Live Nation said the lake’s water levels would “jeopardize production of the concert and fan experience.”
The venue wasn’t the only place to be hit with heavy rain. Parts of the eastern Beaches, Toronto Islands and other areas around the GTA were flooded. Around 50 per cent of the Toronto Islands are still underwater and remain closed to the public.
The revitalized Budweister Stage, located at Ontario Place, will feature new food and drink bars, and artwork by local artists.
Chance the Rapper is set to perform on Tuesday night.
