Several industrial buildings and factories in Toronto's east end have been evacuated after police discovered an ecstasy lab inside a storage unit.

Emergency and hazardous materials teams came to the scene after a citizen called to report a quantity of dangerous chemicals inside a storage facility at about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police say.

The drug-making equipment was found inside a locker at Storage Self Storage at 375 Middlefield Dr., in the McCowan Road and Finch Avenue area.

Police called in the bomb squad and used a robot to search the building and ensure members of the Chemical Biological Radioactive Nuclear unit could move in.

Police have not yet commented on the amount of chemicals they have discovered.
