Toronto police are asking for help in finding the young victims of a child exploitation case, by releasing photographs of a suspect in the investigation.

Det. Const. Stuart Fleming of the Child Exploitation Unit alleged the suspect is connected to a series of child exploitations that could stretch back several decades.

"His appearance has changed somewhat over the past 10 to 15 years, and that's why we're releasing the photograph, is to jog people's memories," Fleming said of Robert Rayner, 50.

Fleming said they are specifically interested in speaking with single mothers who may have dated the suspect.

Rayner ran a videography business in the 1980s and 1990s filming weddings and private events.

Police allege he used party line phone chats and online dating services to meet women with children.

"We believe that he used that activity to get close to these children," Fleming said.

Police are uncertain about how many potential victims may be involved, but they are reviewing photos allegedly seized from the suspect in an attempt to identify the children.

Rayner was arrested in Toronto in May. He was charged with two counts of possessing child pornography and two counts of making child pornography.

No allegations against Rayner have been proven in a court of law.

Police arrested Rayner at his home, a second-floor unit in a lowrise Etobicoke building.

"He's a quiet person. He goes and does his thing. We just say 'hi' and 'hi,'" said neighbour Tunde Olagundoye.
