Despite days of searching without finding any evidence that Jeffrey Boucher is dead or alive, Durham Police say, unless he is found, they will continue their search over the weekend.

There are still no signs of the 52-year-old man who has not been seen in five days, and Durham police say that if he's been out in the elements that long, there's little chance he's survived.

However, police say that they are expanding the geographic scope of their search, and will revisit some areas Boucher was known to frequent, including waterfront trails near Lake Ontario.

"We remain at the peak of our capacity in terms of manpower," Durham Regional Police Sgt. Nancy Van Rooy said in a press conference Friday morning.

Proceeding on information that Boucher went for a routine morning run on Monday, police have been concentrating their search on ravines, ditches and wooded trails in an area surrounding his home near Tauton Road and Brock Street.

The roads and trails were icy the morning Boucher was reported missing, and it is thought that he may have slipped and become incapacitated.

Although no one witnessed Boucher leave the house Monday, relatives and friends have said he likely left for his daily run, as he usually does, at approximately 6 a.m. Boucher liked to run alone, and was known to frequently change his route.

When he failed to return, Boucher was reported missing at 8:30 a.m. that morning

In the press conference, Van Rooy said there were no signs Boucher vanished on purpose, but they are examining every possibility. He didn't take his keys, wallet or passport, and Van Rooy said his bank and email accounts remain untouched.

"All realms of investigation are open because we've not yet found anything factual, concrete or investigatively substantial that leads us to believe that he could be deceased, that he has in fact left the region and gone elsewhere, or that he has purposely walked away from his life," she said.

In case Boucher is alive and has been following media coverage, Van Rooy directed some of her comments directly to him: "At this point in time, we just want to be reassured that you are okay. If you've just stepped away, those reasons can be explained later. There's no judgement here."

Boucher is described as white, six feet tall, 180 pounds with short grey and white hair. Relatives say he is likely wearing a dark running jacket and dark pants.
