Detectives investigating the body of a woman found wrapped in a carpet roll in Toronto's Junction area say the death has not been ruled a homicide.

A woman walking a dog in the Dundas Street West and Keele Street area made the grisly discovery around noon Wednesday in a laneway behind 583 Clendenan Ave.

The discovery came hours after police warned residents in the area about a suspect wanted after at least two sex workers were assaulted by a man posing as an undercover police officer.

CTV Toronto's John Musselman said police have not made a connection between the two incidents, but are investigating possible links.

Sources told CTV News that the victim lives in the area, but police have not released her identity. An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.

Police said Wednesday that the woman's body showed signs of trauma and believe she may have been there within 24 hours of the discovery.

The homicide squad was originally called to investigate the case on Wednesday, but police say they have not determined whether the woman was murdered.
