Police have released the name and a photo of a man wanted in connection to a mid-town murder near Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue that occurred early Wednesday morning.

On Friday, police said they are looking for David Ludwig, 33, of Toronto.

"He is currently-wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder," Toronto police Det. Gary Giroux said at a press conference.

James Massey, 32, was killed after being shot in Oriole Park.

Neighbours called police to report hearing a gun shot around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday. When police arrived they found Massey's body near a playground in the park.

Police said a one-sided argument preceded the murder and that the killing was a targeted attack.

The murder weapon appeared to be a shotgun fired at close range, police said.

"I would consider Mr. Ludwig armed and dangerous," said Giroux.

Giroux said they think Ludwig is in the Toronto area, but police have also notified border agents of the warrant. Ludwig is known to police, he said.

Giroux also warned friends and family that anyone who aids Ludwig at this point would be committing a criminal offence.

Giroux urged Ludwig to contact a lawyer and turn himself in.

"The best-case scenario is for him to surrender himself," he said. "There really is no place to hide."

Ludwig is described as a white male, between 5'8" and 5'10" with a medium build. He is unshaven and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans.

Anyone who sees Ludwig is urged to call 911.
